Memphis and thereafter

In Memphis we watched the parade for the Liberty bowl, Arkansas vs East Carolina. Dad got tired of standing around so we went to an early dinner. A few different people had recommended a place called Rendezvous for some classic Memphis BBQ. The place was packed, the parade ended right as we were heading to the restaurant, so half of the city and us walked to Rendezvous. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table but it gave us time to chat.

The food was okay, I was a little bit unimpressed, probably because of all the recommendations. After dinner we walked a little bit downtown and mom and Ellen danced in the street hoping they would get some party beads. Well we soon realized it was about 30 degrees and how cold that is and decided to go check into the hotel. I bought Boggle and we played a few rounds of that before going to bed.

We went to Matthew's wedding, and it was the first time I've been to a wedding not in the scorching heat, instead this time, the blistering cold. Not sure which one is better. After the wedding, we went to Graceland Mansion. It was pretty cool, we can check it off our list of things to see. The house was half gaudy and half kitschy.

That night we went to the reception and ring ceremony. Mom and Dad started to feel sick so we went to the hotel and they were in bed by 8:30! Ellen and I just stayed up and sweaty because the sickies were so cold they cranked the heat way up. In the morning, Ellen and I went to church and were one of 4 couples without kids, very young ward.

After church we drove to Birmingham a long and boring drive with literally nothing between the cities. We saw the temple in Birmingham, surprise surprise, it looked just like the previous 2 we saw.

We woke up early Monday morning and headed home, stopping in Atlanta to see the temple there, a breath of fresh air- a unique looking one.

Now glad to be home in Charleston we are both back to work and staying busy. I have had two scout campouts in the past two weeks. Ellen couldnt be happier, she doesnt have to hear my beg her to go camping.
